Icynene is a two-component insulation and air barrier material that is 100% water-blown and HFC-free (blowing agent assessed as having a high global warming potential). Icynene does not employ PBDEs, a fire retardant that has been linked to serious health issues and banned by several states. Icynene is applied as a liquid and expands 100 times its initial volume in seconds, curing to a soft, flexible foam made up of small open cells that act as an air barrier and insulation.
