 | ICYNENE LD-R-50™ is a renewable-based, open-cell, semi-flexible spray foam insulation that creates a superior air-seal. ICYNENE LD-R-50™ is made from castor oil, a natural oil which offers reduced reliance on petroleum-based polyol without compromising the product’s overall performance in terms of adhesion, yield, air-sealing, and airborne moisture management. In addition to the performance benefits offered by castor oil, it also offers numerous environmental advantages such as: no competition with food crops, rapidly renewable materiali, and essentially zero net greenhouse gas emissions from its productionii. |
 | ICYNENE LD-R-50™ is 100% water-blown and HFC-free (blowing agent assessed as having a high global warming potential). It does not employ PBDEs, a fire retardant that has been linked to serious health issues and banned by several states. It does not off gas, sag or settle over time maintaining a consistent R-value and performance for the life of the building. ICYNENE LD-R-50™ is considered an environmentally preferable product because of its contribution to indoor air quality as well as reductions in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This compliance is documented in the California High Performance Schools (CHPS) Low-Emitting Materials (LEM) Table which can be found here. The table also lists ICYNENE LD-R-50™ as a product with rapidly renewable content. LEED Rating Systems provide credits for Environmentally Preferable Products (EPPs) under LEED-NC EQ 4.1 and LEED-H MR2.2.
